What Are They Selling It For? - A Crash Course In Node.js

"The Challenge" Company X sells products online and have several competitors selling the same products. They always want to keep abreast of at least what their two or three biggest competitors are selling certain products for. They currently have a list of about 200 main products (from about 4,000) that they will periodically manually go through each product, on each website, and see what these other 2 or 3 companies are selling product for (including their own), higher, lower, or about the same. Or, many times they will just wait until a customer will call in and say, "XYZ is selling this for... can you give me a better price?" Throughout the day I would hear conversations around me, "Hey, what are we selling (this product) for, and what is Competitor A selling (this product) for?" "Really?, ok , let's drop ours down a few dollars. And while you're checking, see what the other competitor is selling (another product) for and lets tr...

When I Grew Up, We Had The Best Toys.

No question in my mind that we had the best toys and gadgets when I grew up in the mid 1970's. Being born in 1968, my childhood hit right at the end of the hippie 60's era and before the real hardcore computer craze hit full force in the late 80's. I guess one could say the peak of my "childhood" was around 1976. I would have been about 8 years old. We didn't have internet yet, but we could almost sense it had we known to look around the corner just a bit. The internet as we know it today, (primarily websites and / or the "web"), would arrive a little later, sometime after high school if I recall,and yet I had flashes and visions of it early on with things like UseNet... What Was UseNet? Well I only barely remember except in that it was like using Outlook 2010, only way more complicated and you weren't sending emails but rather downloading thing that others had uploaded in 100 or 1000 parts that had to be rejoined into one large part once ...

We Work For, But Are Not, The Company

Linked In needs a better way to separate "me" as an individual vs "me" as an employee at "some company". Likewise: What Industry am I in? Why is this relevant to "me" and my career? That's a company thing. Maybe the company I work for now is in plastic manufacturing for Aerospace industry, but how is this relevant to "me", the person, here on LinkedIn? Perhaps my job was working for the front end website to help make it look nice to visitors or as a Sys Admin managing servers or 100 other responsibilities that have nothing to do with manufacturing plastic or aerospace. Does it matter what >>my<< industry was? And that "they" made plastic parts? Not really, right? Why do I want to be connected with other people and companies in the Plastic manufacturing or Aerospace Industry? There is a huge disconnect here that no one has figured out.
